I try not to get too deep into the politics of cycling, but this morning, it was impossible to miss the announcements spread across all cycling related websites that the UCI now has a new President, Brian Cookson, formerly the President of British Cycling. With the controversial and self promoting Pat McQuaid out of the picture, perhaps the UCI can begin to heal itself from an era of doping, deceit, and what seemed to be the rule of an iron hand. I came across this two-part interview posted on Cycling News with Brian Cookson talking about mountain biking. I appreciate that he seems to be level-headed, reasonable, collaborative, patient, and experienced. Oh, and also interested in growing mountain biking in all its forms! Check it out. It’s a hopeful read: http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/uci-presidential-candidate-cookson-talks-mountain-biking-part-1
